Tomorrow is the big day

I have my interview tomorrow. The portfolio is done, my resume is printed for each member of the panel along with some ideas that I have and I feel really good about my possible answers.

BTW, this is a promotion for me. I’m not looking for a new job. I just consider this the Super Bowl of interviews for me. There isn’t much room for me in San Diego to move compared to Los Angeles. There are only 2 locations in SD and like 30 in Los Angeles. So you see why I’m taking this like to that level.

Ok, I need my beauty sleep and a chance to clear my head and really get my story straight.

I’ll let you know the outcome as soon as I hear.

A ghost

Sorry for the lack of blogging. I have been really busy with work. I’m preparing for an interview for a promotion. The position is call signmaker but to the outside world from Whole Foods Market it’s a graphic design position.

I have been waiting for something like this to become available for about 2 years now. So here is my chance and I’m really spending a lot of time thinking about what I’m going to say to questions that get asked as well as my closing speech when they ask “Why should we pick you?”.  The funny thing is that my portfolio is actually the first thing I finished. Usually it’s the last thing I’m working on until about midnight that night before.

My interview isn’t until October 1st. Wish me luck.

What a great weekend

I have had the last 3 days off from work and I still have 1 more before heading back. This weekend Steve, his parents and sister all went to the Ohio State/USC game. There isn’t really much more to say about that. He had fun and was excited to see the Bucks play.

Friday Rhys and I went up to see family in Pasadena. We had lunch at Islands and had fun playing with my nephew James and visiting with the in-laws. Steve was fighting a fever and stayed behind to get better for the game Saturday. Friday night Rhys and I headed to Santa Monica to spend the rest of the weekend with my good friend Lisa, Bart and their son Gavin. Rhys loved playing with Gavin and I really enjoyed just being able to relax and spend some quality time with friends.

Saturday while out running errands with Lisa we headed over to the new Whole Foods Market in Venice. I got to see my favorite boss Mike Bowen and talk to him. He is the one who inspired me to go into graphic design with WFM and be confident in what I know and love to do. That was a huge boost for me and my interview for Signmaker at the La Jolla store (btw, set for October 1st).

After a wonderful brunch with everyone today (Steve included) the Joneses headed home around 1:30 and made good time getting home at just over 2 hours on the road. Rhys slept the whole way home.

We just finished dinner and Rhys is watching The Wiggles as I type this. It’s going to be nice to sleep in my own bed but I’m really glad that I was able to see good friends and just relax. I hope to do it again soon.

My little artist

Today Rhys and I hung out at home because he was sick last night and I didn’t want to take him to daycare since he still had a little fever and wasn’t keeping anything down.

After I noticed that breakfast was staying in his belly and his fever was better he was showing signs of himself again. We played and at one point we went out into the garage and he wanted to color on the refrigerator. I thought that was a great idea since Steve had already let Rhys color on it over the weekend. Steve even mentioned that he wanted to have Rhys add some color touches to his masterpiece. So I got all my color sharpies and let Rhys loose on the door.

Here are some additional pictures of his work in progress;

A good laugh.

I noticed on facebook today a friend of mine had some pictures posted on her profile of what she would look like in yearbook pictures from 1950 – 2000. There were some really good ones and I think she posted the ones she liked. So I went over to yearbookyourself.com and tried it out. I had a blast. Here is what I came up with.

I did a few of my hubby Steve too.

The last one of Steve is my favorite.
